Who Gave You Permission to Restart??

Damn you, Vista! I left my computer ON last night because I had multiple complex files open so I could resume my work this morning where I left off. I had the browser open to the pages with database results I was looking at; I had the VPN connection finally working that you so stubbornly resist every time I try to connect... SO WHO SAID YOU COULD RESTART?

I come in to find my machine decided it needed to install some updates.

I think what that pop-up meant to say was this:

Vista sucks, without my permission,
Randy

Yes you are so right, VISTA SUCKS, and just when you think it couldn't suck any more than it already does it crashes. Now I am told by DELL that they will sell me XP and charge me if I have any questions on installation. What a racket.

I was always given permission before restartso I dont know what your problem is. Really, I was given persmission.
Vista sucks, but people who bitch about vista sucks because they are annoying. They use whatever they have along with trying to act smart and make an article out of it.

To hate vista you must be alone. It is less annoying

I've had the same thing happen. MS did do one good thing. I recently burned a copy of Ubuntu Linux on a disc and tried it out. I don't if I would have done it if I wasn't so frustrated with my windows OS. Long story short, I now use Linux.

Perhaps you should change how Vista installs updates. There is an option for this. Your computer restarted itself becuase you sucked at preventing it from doing so... your fault, not Vista. Sorry, this is not a valid item of proof to claim that Vista sucks.

Whoa -- You think I should have to preemptively go change some setting to "DON'T do this without my permission" rather than having THAT be the default?

Wouldn't it make way more sense to show me the "automatic" option when you ask for my permission to restart?

LOL @ the two Vista fanboys trying to defend this abortion of an operating system.

"I was always given permission before restartso I dont know what your problem is."

Are you sure you're using the same OS as the rest of us? Or by "permission" do you mean "postpone updates for 10 minutes" as opposed to something LOGICAL like, say "DONT RESTART MY COMPUTER UNTIL I CLICK OKAY YOU STUPID PIECE OF CRAP OS".

"To hate vista you must be alone."

Haha, no. YOU'RE the one who's alone. Every single person I know hates vista.

Every single one.

"Perhaps you should change how Vista installs updates. There is an option for this. Your computer restarted itself becuase you sucked at preventing it from doing so... your fault, not Vista. Sorry, this is not a valid item of proof to claim that Vista sucks."

Idiot. This is like saying that when a person is murdered, it is the victim's fault for "sucking at preventing the murderer from killing them". So...the victim's fault, not the murderer. Sorry, this is not a valid item of proof to claim that the murderer should be locked up in jail.

And for the record, I looked into your alleged "option for changing how Vista installs updates". It requires me to GO INTO MY COMPUTER'S REGISTRY AND CHANGE ITS VERY CORE PROGRAMMING. This is something that a casual layperson would NEVER know how to do, which goes against Microsoft's claims that Vista was designed for casual laypeople.

I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CHANGE THE REGISTRY JUST TO GET MY COMPUTER TO DO WHAT EVERY OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM IN THE WORLD IS CAPABLE OF--NOT RESTARTING UNTIL THE USER TELLS IT TO RESTART.

I hate to tell you but Windose XP did that too.

Ross, the only time I can recall XP doing that is when I had nothing open or running. Every other time it gave me this: http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1194/20090910-66li-18kb.jpg

Vista sucks because :
1. It just can't install the sp2 installation for many times.
2. It can't start any video game else by disabling composition first from the compatibility tab ( for every single game )
3. When I sort items by name and drag a file to the folder the arrow on the name the means sorted by name disappear and the folder is total mess
4. The same point above but without copying just close the window and return back later
5. IT TAKES 5 MINUTES OR MORE TO BOOT AND LOAD ALL STARTUP APPS ON MY CORE2QUAD X64 PROCESSOR AND 4GB RAM
6. because it don't support aero on firefox and many windows ( when being fullscreen )
and and and and and
Wanna more ? I can write a book and add it to the Dummies series and name it "Dummies for people who hate vista"
